Conservative statement on the passing of President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed al-Nahyan

Ottawa, ON – The Hon. Candice Bergen, Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada and the Official Opposition issued the following statement on the passing of President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed al-Nahyan of the United Arab Emirates:

“Conservatives extend our sympathies to Emiratis who are mourning the death of President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed al-Nahyan, who served the people of the United Arab Emirates from 2004 until his passing.

“Sheikh Khalifa has been a partner in deepening ties between Canada and the UAE. Canada and the UAE have shared interests in combatting international terrorism, strengthening regional and global security, contributing to economic and social development, and deepening people to people ties.

“Sheikh Khalifa was a remarkable man and leader of the Emirati people. Conservatives will remember his legacy, and we look forward to working with his successor to continue to strengthen the relationship between our two countries.”
