ON – The Leader of Canada’s Conservatives and the Official Opposition, Hon.
Andrew Scheer, issued the following statement today on the occasion of Thai
Pongal:

“Today, Canadians of
Tamil heritage will come together to mark the beginning of Thai Pongal, a
celebration of thanksgiving for the harvest.

“Also known as “The Festival of Tamils”, Thai Pongal  is a time
to express our gratitude to our friends, family and neighbours.

“January also marks Tamil Heritage Month, in which Canadians will have an
opportunity to learn more about the vast and vibrant economic, social, and
cultural contributions of Canada’s Tamil community.

“On behalf of Canada’s
Conservatives, I offer my best wishes to all those celebrating Thai Pongal and
hope the festival will bring happiness, good health, and prosperity to all!”
